Frequently asked questions

  • Who can attend the workshops?

Gaun Yersel is not a class, but rather a workshop hub designed for actors working in this industry.

We don’t offer any craft teaching or training.

Gaun Yersel’ isn’t a space for teaching, but rather like a gym for actors to work on their own personal pre-existing craft development.

We ask that our attendees meet our criteria to partake: be a professional actor who has either graduated/in their final year of training from an Acting/Performance course at HNC level or above AND/OR have an active spotlight with professional credits.

You must also be 18+ to attend.

  • I don't fit the criteria, where do I fit in?

If you realise Gaun Yersel’ workshops aren’t a space for you with our criteria, don’t worry, we’ve still got you!!

We’re a community ecosystem, and still want to always support those entering this industry.

If you are eager to discover, explore & learn acting techniques in Glasgow, then please check out our resource page where we have a list of amazing training classes & workshop organisations!

  • Where are the workshops held?

The workshops will always be based in Glasgow city centre. Our space locations will always be close to public travel and are wheelchair accessible.

Once you have secured a place at one of our workshops, we will send out the location details via email.

  • What do I need to prepare for each workshop?

For most workshops we’ll send out the information a week beforehand.

When it comes to script-based workshops we ask that you be as off-book as possible & prepared to an audition standard (unless non-applicable, e.g. sight-reading workshops).

We ask this as we strongly believe at Gaun Yersel’ that you cannot work on your craft if you don’t have the freedom to be away from the page.

(We’re a gym not the Olympics, but you still need to wear your trainers!)

  • How will I receive any scripts needed for the workshop?

Once you have secured a place at one of our workshops, we will send you the scripts (if applicable) via Google Drive.

For environmental factors we will no longer mass print. We ask that script preparation is your responsibility.

Anyone with accessibility needs please email us and we’ll support you to the best we can.

  • What is expected of me in each workshop?

Gaun Yersel’ is a community built on respect for each other’s creative practices and journeys, but also a respect of each other’s personhood including gender identity, race, religion and sexualities.

Please check out our Terms of Service when booking a space. Our Terms of Service apply to all workshop spaces and we will ask that you agree to our Terms of Service agreement every time you sign up to a workshop.

  • Why is there a fixed-price ticket system?

Gaun Yersel’ Workshop is a registered Community Interested Company.

We never started Gaun Yersel’ to make a profit. All the money put in from you, goes right back into Gaun Yersel’: from donating to the spaces we use, to paying our guest host facilitators, to admin services costs, right down to the tea & biscuits!

While we have set up a fixed rate for workshops on the website, it is by no means a hard line. We value our community, and want to do best by them, and our workshop charges don’t always have to be in £ currency; we offer skill swaps, time exchanges, and commission rates. For more information please reach out to us at info@gaunyerselworkshop.com with the subject ‘Non-Fixed Workshop Rates’.

We also offer a Pay-It-Forward scheme for our community to support each other. These are available to purchase in our workshop store.

  • What is your refund policy?

All of Gaun Yersel’ workshops are non-refundable.

We do not offer workshop date exchanges or swaps.

  • want to collab with us?

    We love collaboration!
